Weight Loss Motivation And Accountability

By Jared DiCarmine On June 6, 2011 Under Motivation

Weight loss is not always about diet and exercise. Many people never realize it, but losing weight is all about your mindset. You can have the best coach, nutritionist, chef, and trainer in the world, but if you don’t have the motivation, you will not succeed. I have seen it happen before time and time again.

You want to know a little dirty secret about some of the top trainers in the world and on the internet??

With all the knowledge that they possess, they too hire other trainers and nutritionists to prepare their workout programs and diet routines. Why?

Well it’s not because they are lazy, but it all has to do with motivation and one other big tip…

Accountability.

By staying accountable to someone, you stand more of a chance of succeeding with your weight loss goals then not staying accountable. By hiring a coach, that is just one small step to forcing you to stay the course.

However, to make this even more powerful and to take it a step further, you can broadcast your message out to the world.

So let’s say you finally have had enough and want to lose weight and totally transform your body. That’s great. Now instead of keeping it a secret to yourself because you’re scared of failing, why not broadcast it to as many people as  possible?

The more people you tell about your goals and what you want to do, the more you are going to feel accountable to your actions. You don’t want to let those people down AND you don’t want to embarrass yourself after you told all of your co workers, family, and friends about what you want to achieve.

If you want to take this a step further, you can join one of the popular weight loss forums and websites out in the never ending galaxy we call the internet, take before pictures of yourself and post them online. Talk about your story and give daily updates of how you’re doing.

The extra support you would receive, plus the daily accountability factor will force you to stay on track, stick to your workouts, and not cheat on your diet. Yea there will be times when you feel like giving up. Everyone goes through that. But because of the accountability you have developed, your chances of NOT GIVING UP will greatly increase.

Until next time. Stay the course!

Jared…you’re the man. I REALLY needed THIS particular article. I totally believe in accountability and will implement your great suggestions and advice. I seem to only be motivated when I come across great information like yours, and “big loser” testimonials, but the motivation rarely lasts. Sometimes I wonder if there’s a little depression goin on, too. Have you covered this subject in prior posts?

No I have not…but it really comes down to the non conscious brain VS the conscious brain with regards to motivation and keeping it going.
